Many beautiful poems have been written about paintings and photographs, but ekphrasis can encompass so many more types of media, like songs and television. In this generative writing and discussion class, we will discuss examples of ekphrastic poetry that go beyond the canvas before writing our own. Poems we discuss may include, but are not limited to, works by KB Brookins, Ocean Vuong, and K. Iver. Participants will be given prompts and writing time, with the opportunity to briefly discuss and share at the end of class.
