POETRY OF THE SPIRIT: a workshop

This online poetry workshop will trace the roots of lyrical poetry and its connection with worship, song, spiritual and hermetic practice, and the collective. Poets, songwriters, and seekers all welcome. We will meet in the ether three times on Saturdays from 12-3pm EST: on February 4, 11, and 18. And each time we’ll commune with the poetry of the spirit through another lens:

Orphism, Muses & Invocation.

Songs, Devotions & Love Divine.

Dreams & Visions. Myth & Tarot.

Collectives & Revolutions.

Nature and Poetry as World Soul.

We’ll immerse in our poetic practice and write poems to lead us into the new year. Readings will include: Basho. Hildegard of Bingen. William Blake. Diane di Prima. Dogen. Robert Duncan. Hafiz, Rumi and the Sufi Poets. H.D. George Herbert. bell hooks. Bob Kaufman. Novalis. Orphic Hymns. The Pre-Socratics. Li Po. Sun Ra. Christina Rossetti. Han Shan. Rabindranath Tagore. John Wieners. Franz Wright. and a whole lot of contemporary poets

This workshop is inspired by my studies with Diane di Prima and her course on Hidden Religions. Over the years I continued to follow this path & collected a corpus of readings & teachings that guide my writing. I want to share some of that now with friends new and old. Together we see more.
